On the boards...

Anyone feel like building a board track on their property? Could you imagine??!!

Dan Webb and HIS Golden Sub!

Right now, one of the most inspirational builds going for me is Dan Webb's interpretation of the original marvel, the Golden Submarine that was brought to life by Harry Miller in 1916. Dan's build has been VERY exciting to watch come together. Unfortunately, I have to get all this info second hand from various news groups including Street Rodder, Jalopnik, the Jalopy Journal, SEMA news groups, etc. but I'll take what I can get. This thing is amazing! The detail, the engineering, construction, EVERYTHING! Amazing! In addition to all that... the car features a modern Ford Racing 4-cylinder engine, producing more than 400 HP and is run on Alcohol. The car weighs less than 1000 pounds! I'll let you guys do the math on it's capabilities...

Thank you Dan for bringing us such an amazing piece of automotive artwork! Can't wait to see this thing in person some day!

One Nasty Willys Coupe Gasser!!

I just saw this thing today and had to know more! The car is an all steel, 1940 Willys Coupe. It's owned by Larry and Wanda Blanchet and can be seen way out East burnin' up the track!

Here's a little blurb from Wanda on their car..

"A few things about the car it has a 1957 olds rear in it, a 1957 392 blown and hillborn injected hemi. Estimate is around 700 hp. It has the original willys front axle in it, home made ladder bars, fiberglass buckets, aluminum door panels and an old school style roll bar. We have been on tour with the S&S team and pork zartman (who drove the original filthy forty) for the last couple of years"

Larry and Wanda's car was inspired by the legendary "Filthy Forty", originally belonging to Charlie Hill and driven by Pork Zartman. More about the original Filthy Forty can be seen HERE at Nitrogeezers.

Thanks Wanda for all the pictures and for the info! I expect a video soon and so will the readers! We need to make sure that Hemi sounds as good as you say it does! :)

Awesome Willys! Well done!

This is a picture of the original Filthy Forty at the 1963 Indy Nationals. The original car was destroyed at Maple Grove a few years later with new owners at the wheel

Delmo's 28 Hemi Roadster

This little '28 Model A Ford Roadster was brought to life by Del Uschenko. Here's what he mentioned to me about it...

* a '57 331 Chrysler Hemi (Industrial converted for street use)
* TH350 Auto trans
* Currie 9" Rear end
* Pete and Jakes Ladder bars
* Pinkees built '32 railed custom chassis
* 40 Ford split bones up front
* 5" dropped Superbell axle
* Monoleaf front spring
* SoCal Speed shop's disc kit up front (he commented about his driving style, HAHA!)
* steers with an upside down Corvair box
* Speedway steering column
* 32 headlights
* cut down Walker radiator to keep the Hemi cool
* and yes... original 1928 Ford spoked wheels roll it down the road

To the Readers!

Things have been really busy here guys! Been working alot and pushing hard to get the Model A done. I'm a little behind on getting stuff up. Bear with me though! I've still got some good things in the works, including a little something from Steve Sellers, a Hemi roadster to tell you about, some Holley 94 rebuild stuff and tons more inspirational pictures from various people. I'll be posting more on the Model A project as well.

If you guys would like to send cool pictures or anything related to traditional hot rodding, Early Hemi tech and information, or maybe have a blog or website to tell everyone about that is related to these topics, please email them to me and make sure to put something in the subject line that will let me know it's not junk mail. Make sure you give me a name so I know who to give credit to.

Curtiss P-40

By all means, one of the most iconic airplanes in the US military to have circled the skys during WWII. Masterful, intimidating and certainly fast!

It's ALIVE!

First turn of the key and the Hemi fired right up! The monster lives!

Tons of things to iron out, including a gummed up carb that I borrowed from a friend to get it started, but the good stuff is on it's way!
