Bob Villa for an evening...

So I sort of got screwed on the Model T gas tank I ordered for the car. I always had my reservations for buying something already made to bolt on to the back of this car, so I guess the problem sort of took car of itself. I decided to make the tank myself, from scratch so it will look exactly the way I want it to look. to do this I needed to make a forming buck. I drew the tank up in CAD first so I could make some good templates for the buck, then printed them to full scale on the plotter and proceeded to arts and crafts time. Couple hours later I had something worth forming metal around as well as something I could use to fab some mounting brackets around. I can take my time on the actual construction now. Mostly I needed something to design brackets around and figure out where and how I'm going to mount tail lights.

I'll keep you guys posted on the actual tank as well as the construction.

Riveting Rules!

Now I can lay rivets like a mad man! I have a ton of projects that need rivets...

Rivet gun, bucks, drivers and clecos galore!

More Model A progress...

Some progress from this week and especially from this weekend...

Got my Lincoln backing plates from Riley Automotive. Eric RULES!
Small modifications to the top of the spindle and they bolt right up.
Bought a '65 Mustang radiator, flipped it over so it would fit better in the '32 shell and trimmed the mounting brackets
Fits great!
Radiator holder upper in-place. Still needs some reinforcing on the back side.
HA! I wonder if I voided the warranty too? *snicker*
Grille shell needs to be shortened about 3-1/2 or 4 inches

Rim-wind Auto Clocks

Does anyone have information on these type of clocks? All I've found has just been through a basic Google search. I would appreciate anyone that could give me some information on where/when these were used and some history on the company itself. Please email me and put "clock" in the subject line. scootermcrad@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Model A Ford Dimensions

For you builders and restorers out there, here's something that might interest you. Scanned images of most body styles with various dimensions to help you get your hot rod or resto project just right. If nothing else, they'll tell you how much more space you need to add on to your garage to own a fleet of them...

Thanks Jim the "deuceguy".

Stunning!

Okay... a true automotive legend. The Shelby Daytona GT Coupe. Based on the Cobra platform and developed in 1964 and pushed through 1965 to dominate the GT class and beat out Ferrari. It's on the list of top 20 most valuable cars in the world... I'm not surprised in the least. Only 6 were ever made.

Make sure to check out the video to hear more about it and even hear it run.

Model A update!

Got some more work done over the weekend. Rear shock mounts are pretty much done and lookin' good. Carb bodies have been prepped and refinished using Alodine 1001 and are now ready for rebuild.

Coming right along now!

Holley bodies after dipping in Alodine. Hard to tell, but there is a little bit of a yellowish tint to the bodies.
Mocked up on the Hemi. Had to do it!

Rob's Pan

A buddy of mine, Robert Van Diest, from the Netherlands, got a hold of me the other day and sent me some pictures of his Panhead chop. This thing is RAD for sure!! Thanks for getting in touch with me man! Come visit soon!

Here's what Rob had to say about it...

I bought it as a real basket case 2 years ago. I only had a frame, springerfront, wheels, oiltank, sportster gastank, gearbox/transmission and only the bottom half of the engine. I asked a friend of mine to make it whole again for me. So he did. First we had to find the parts to finish it and i toke the bottom half of the engine to a local specialist to make the engine complete and fast.
After one year it was finished (see the picture with the "righty tighty" gastank) and i took it to a local show.
but i didnt like the look and so we redid some of it. A new mustang gastank, mini ape and new paint job. and now it is like in the pictures on the street.

Some specs.
aftermarket wishbone hardtailframe
16 inch backwheel with a shinko whitewall
21 inch frontwheel with avon tire
mustang gastank
springer replica front
self made rear fender
self made seat
self made exhaustpipes
self made mine apes
self made kick stand
selfmade forward controls (midpegs are cool, but i'm over 6 foot so thats a no no ;-)
rattle can paintjob for real. it looks like a million dollar paintjob, but it only costs like 75 dollars ha ha ha
a lot of swapmeet extras like the headlight, taillight, etc
4 speed kicker only transmission
the engine is a mix of old skool and new skool, because i wanted the old skool looks, but new skool performance. I could buy the new s&s panheads, but the cost a ton over here and so this was a litllte bit less expensive and more unique.
it has a delkron bottom
it has new cilinders
and real panhead heads from the year 58
The were flowed and bored up from 74 Cu to over 80 cu. so that i could use shovel/evo parts for the inside drivetrain.
All this is connected with a bdl 1.5 inch open belt drive system.
It has suicide clutch and stickshift so that is new to me and will some extra miles of practising ha ha ha....
