Frame is PAINTED!

I finally painted this thing! Washington Blue! YEAH! Couple touch-ups and a run to cut and fix, but overall looks pretty good! My first REAL paint job, so I'm not complaining much. Didn't expect it to be perfect!

Another milestone closer to driving this car!

PAY ATTENTION! STOP SCREWING AROUND!

For those of you who don't pay attention to your surroundings while you're driving, THIS is what happens! Bob Edlefse is lucky to be alive and thanks to those who helped yank him out of his '32 Vicky! Word is, he had just picked it up from Brizio's just days before. He fell victim to the 4-car accident in Burbank while sitting at a stop light minding his own business...

Notice the fuel trail from one side of the intersection to the other!!!

PAY ATTENTION!!! Stop driving like you're sitting on your couch at home watching mindless television! Stupid people!

And to all my hot rod driving friends, keep an eye out for the idiots! Scary out there!

More Smurfy Primer! Frame almost ready for color!

Frame is in Smurf Blue Epoxy primer! ANNNND!!! As I was typing this update, the FINAL paint supplies for the final color were just set in my office!!! YEAH!!!!! Some final touch-ups on the primer, some block sanding, etc.. and I can lay down the final color!!

Erik Warner's '31 Roadster

Awhile back, my buddy Erik mentioned he bought a 31 Ford Roadster and needed a little help getting it from the middle of nowhere, California, back to Huntington Beach. So my other buddy Dan offered up his enclosed trailer and I offered up a Saturday and we helped a hot rod brother get his project home.

Sometime in the car's history, an owner had done some real "interesting" work to the car. Questionable welds, bizarre BOP 350 adaptation to the 283, an equally bizarre choice of suspension components, and some sheet metal work that really just never should have happened. But... Erik being as build savvy as he is, made some important, yet quick fixes, and got it on the road to enjoy! Great little roadster and it definitely gets up and goes!

Hats off to Erik for saving another one! Erik since moved to Hawaii and had been making trips back to put time into it. Now that it's on the road he will take it back to Hawaii with him. What better place to own a roadster!

Rotisserie... Done! (for now)

Well, for now the body/frame rotisserie is complete. It will get some finishing touches later, but for now it's working and does what I need it to. Had to really work hard to get the mounting bracketry and braces (spokes) fabbed up so I could keep going with what was important. The Model A frame needs to be finished and painted so reassembly can start! The rotisserie will only help the process...

It's Friday! Blow something up!

Just make sure it's not your engine on the dyno you're blowing up! (GASP!)

Bass on the road... Build 'em to drive 'em!

To me, the ultimate test for a car builder is to build a car and go on a road trip in it and survive! Kustoms, like your 50's Chevy, Merc, or whatever are one thing, but to do it in an open-wheeled early 30's hot rod with an early Chrysler Hemi is a whole nother ball game!

Brian Bass is doing just this! Follow his road trip from Texas to the Pacific Northwest and down through the Southwest on the HAMB.... HERE!

Inspiration - Scratch Built

This car has always been very inspirational. Chuck Lindquist built this all aluminum 1965 Shelby Daytona from scratch! Started out as a beginner metal shaper and obviously became a pro by simply using the concept of "learning by doing". Makes me want to go out in the shop, build some wooden bucks, and start hammerin' some metal to fit!
