Model T Lakes Roadsters - Friday Favorites
I've been collecting parts for a T roadster build, lately. Here's some of my personal favorites that would fall more in the vintage race car catagory...

Porsche Madness in NC - Zuffenhaus
I'm always on the lookout in the Carolinas for interesting Porsche events, shops, and early Porsches. A shop local to me, of which I REALLY need to go visit soon, is Zuffenhaus Eurowerks & Zuffenhaus Products. These guys are doing some seriously awesome work on early Porsches. They do everything from the basic Porsche work to building their own parts and body panels for the right look and feel as well as to pay proper tribute to legendary race cars.
Drop by and check out their new shop and product line in Monroe, North Carolina, and of course check out their website and blog. Some top notch work here!!

Daniel Schaefer - Drive Heckmotor-Sportwagen
"Hello. I drive Heckmotor-Sportwagen..." Heard this before?
A little while back, some crazy European Porsche dork friends of mine said, "Hey! Have you met Daniel Schaefer yet?" Uhhh... well... I hadn't, but I was blown away by this guy's talent when I checked out his blog, Heckmotor-Sportwagen. Photographer, Porsche enthusiast and builder, hell of a writer, oh... and a cyclist crazy man!
Recently Daniel finished this perfect era correct, Albert Blue, early 911. The "911 GT" is based on a '66 912 and is flawlessly done. And what a feeling to be able to stand back and look at your own creation through the lens of your own camera. Respect!
Okay... so on with the post, before I get too wordy. Check out his blog and check out his photography at www.schaeferpictures.com/ and more here... www.classicboxers.de/. All pictures here are by Daniel himself.

Working Scale Porsche 911 Engine
Thanks to my good buddy Bean for sharing this with me. INCREDIBLE! And SOUNDS incredible!
How about a Porsche 904/6 GTS for comparison. Sound is remarkably similar with those megaphones!

Amelia Island and all it's Sounds
Haven't had much time to post lately, but have had time to let videos run in the background while I'm working and Amelia Island footage is always my favorite to listen to... for obvious reasons. So for those of you working and want to listen to something other than the usual tunes while working, here you go...

Can't Afford it? BUILD IT!
In our lifetime, I fear that we will never see handcrafted cars the way they used to be built. There are a few ambitiously built one-off "sports cars" here and there by some very talented people, but on a production basis, there will be very few auto makers building things by hand anymore, simply because of the time and resources associated with making something like that happen.
There are also a few hand-made replicas out there of legendary cars that are an incredible tribute and in many cases virtually identical. These blow my mind. To me, this is the future. The ultimate way to pay tribute. In many cases, these cars are built by pure-hearted, passionate hobbyists. Whatever it takes, folks. If there is a car you want, but know you will never be able to afford, invest in the skills and time to research and build it yourself. Build the ultimate replica! Maybe this theory is what this blog should be based on...
Thanks to my good friend Jeffrey James, of Sugar City Speed Shop, for sending me the link.
ENJOY!

Why the Lack of Posting?
Here's why...
Some of you know, but most of you don't, I've made a career change. I've had a lot of interesting Engineering jobs in my life, but my dream has been to work with 4 wheels, one way or another. Well... I guess I got what I wished for. Motor Sports!! Only thing about working in the world of racing is, it eats up a lot of extra time, but that is not a bad thing at all. Good to do what you love.
Working on the Aerodynamics side of racing has been incredibly interesting, challenging, and certainly rewarding...
I promise I didn't forget about posting. It's just been challenging to do so. Here's a few pics of the action from this year.
There's a ton going on with the Modified Murray, some other hot rod stuff, and even some Porsche stuff. I'll post as I can. Hang with me, guys!
(edited the rat rod comment out for sensitive readers)
Cheers!

P.S. I know most of my readers are not NASCAR fans, which is why I've neglect to post much about it, but if you're a car guy at all, you'll at least "get it" a little bit. Just felt the need to explain why there has been a lack of posting.
2014 NASCAR Champions! Very proud moment for all of us at Stewart-Haas Racing, and an extra proud moment for a guy new to working in racing!
