SCTA El Mirage 1946 - MOVIE

I think I may have posted this once before, but worthy of repeat, if not.

What an amazing era for hot rodding!

Been awhile, so how about a Movie?

Sorry for the lack of posting.  I'm going to explain why VERY soon!

In the mean time, how about Ken Block running around LA in an all-wheel-drive monster Mustang??!!!  I cannot imagine what it cost to film this...

Antique Machinery - the Camelback Upright Drill Press

Thanks to a friend of mine that picked up one of these, I'm now obsessed with yet another early piece of machinery...

...the "camelback" style drill press, or upright drill.  Real early turn of the century equipment has always been beautiful to me, despite what it takes to restore early equipment and the shear size of the footprint.  And yet, I need a drill press...

Porsche 911 DIY - Restoration Design Inc MOVIES!

There's not too many opportunities to post DIY stuff for early 911 body work because... well... it seems not enough people are trying to save their early 911 without the assistance of a professional shop.

These days, more and more people are starting to take interest in repairing, restoring, and even putting a custom personal touch on their early 911.  This being said, there are a few companies out there making patch panels and aftermarket performance panels for just the occasion...  unless you're making parts from scratch.

One such company is Restoration Design (no, not the home decor company!), the company making high quality reproduction panels for early Porsches.  They have a great online catalog and if all your questions aren't answered on their website, reach out to their customer service and they will be glad to help!

OR!  How about some videos!!!?  Everyone likes "how to" videos, right?  They have been working on a catalog of videos to show you how to properly install patch panels, floors, etc.  Have a look at a few of their 911/912 videos inserted below showing some floor and suspension pan restoration, and if you need 914 and/or 356 info, they have that also on their Youtube site.  They have more 911 videos and even how to build a cost effective rotisserie for your project.

ENJOY and go save a Porsche on a reasonable budget!

Friday Film - R GRUPPE - Raw Porsche Fun

I dig what these guys are about.  They are some people that really "GET" what Porsches are about...

...Now go do your own thing and enjoy your car the way it is!

Enjoy!

Dutchman's 911

Man...  I'm a little sad to see this car go, as it's the first long-hood I got a chance to ride in, and the one that ruined me, but I know it's for good reasons and I know it's a completely amazing car...  See the specs, details, and info HERE and let the pictures speak for themselves...

Roach Manufacturing - Incredible UK Coachbuilding

Wow.  Going to start with that.  WOW!  Ran across these folks on InstaGram and I am amazed by the talent here.

Roach Manufacturing, located in the UK, is responsible for some incredible coach building and repair work of amazing race cars.  Can we say Auto Union?

Take a look at their website: http://www.roachmanufacturing.co.uk/

Absolutely floored.  I'm now going to go to my garage and set everything on fire.

Banger Sedan with a Twist - Michael van der Lee

A good buddy of mine, and an incredibly talented fabricator, BMX rider, and Mechanical Engineer, Michael van der Lee of General Wheels, sent me a video that was done recently of his little Model A Ford banger sedan that was shot at his shop over in the Netherlands.  Enjoy!

Hot Rods, Porsches, Family, Racing, and History - ROD EMORY

My list of people who inspire me is somewhat sizable, however, of the people on that list there is a small number that I would actually like to meet and say "thank you" to, simply for being what he/she is.  One of the people high on that list is Mr. Rod Emory, of Emory Motorsports.

A lot of people are probably "over" the fact that I've been posting a lot of Porsche stuff.  Sure, in a lot of cases the stuff would be considered off-topic, relative to traditional hot rods.  But really, it's not that off-topic.  Just a different breed.

Rod Emory himself comes from the blood line of Neil Emory, Valley Customs, who arguably built some of hot rodding's most notable hot rods and customs.

Now.  If you appreciate the history of Porsche, but also love the restoration and/or modification of a classic, you just might dig what Rod Emory has going on at Emory Motorsports.  Rod has his hands dirty on some of the rarest early Porsche race cars (904 GTS, 908K, just to name a couple restorations), is driving the movement of "Outlaw" style 356 coupes and race cars (sorry for the pun), preparing vintage racers for track days, and even some classy and tasteful modifications to some original Porsche body lines.  All this requires more than just drive...  TALENTED is one of the complimentary words that comes to mind along with a few others that could describe this guy.  Oh yeah... and not only is he a super nice guy, but he's one heck of a family man with his kids close behind on a path to success.  Check out his website and some of his work below and see what Rod Emory, his family, and his world at Emory Motorsports is all about. (www.emorymotorsports.com) Or, go crazy and do a Google search for "Rod Emory Porsche" and see what kind of stories and images come up.  Incredible.  This guy is making history and bringing history back to life every day.

Oh... and thanks Rod.  I will find my way to your shop one day.  I'll expect that you will know at least one groove on that drum set by then.  :)

Porsche 904 - The conception

I happen to run across some pictures today of the Porsche 904 that I hadn't seen before.  Some I have and have posted them here, but some I thought I would post in case you hadn't seen them yourself.

Note the two 904-8's in the last picture!  Would love to see where those are now...

(found them HERE while doing a Google search)
