Go Karts from the Past

So when I was growing up, all I wanted was a go kart!  I dreamed of doing donuts and power sliding through corners and....  yes...  on a go kart.  I was a kid.  I dreamed big!  HA!  What I ended up with was an auction score for $26 that was heavily molested and had a leaky old 3hp briggs tiller motor on it, worn out tires, and scrub brakes.  That go kart turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me though.  Was the first engine I took apart (and never put back together, sorry Dad), my introduction to "chassis engineering", it was how I learned to weld, and it's also how I picked up the disease for fabrication and modifying everything I could get my hands on...  Oh, and the first vehicle to ever get a speeding ticket in (on).  $25.27, I think it was.  :)

Here's the type of stuff I grew up looking at in books.  Were some crazy rear engine race karts back in the 60's and 70's!  Some newer stuff was coming out, but no way could I have afforded one of those side-engined jobs with the chromoly frames and fancy bumpers and plastics...
