Board Track Racing

Was there a more elegant, yet insanely dangerous form of racing in the 20's?

I really hope that someone out there will one day build a small 1/2 or 3/4 mile board track to host a pre-war racing event.  This form of racing should continue to be celebrated.  Absolutely amazing.

It must have been amazing to watch a race on these super speedway board tracks. The speeds the cars and motorcycles reached back then must have been mind blowing. Can you imagine if one of those tracks was still around.

Damn... do you think enough people could ever show up to break even on the cost of building it, even with recycled construction wood? If it were spear headed by the right group, with the right contacts, it's possible it could take off like the Race of Gentlemen... but a whole lot of people will have to donate to the cause to get that track a piece of land, permits, tools, and materials transported to the site. It's a damn good idea though to bring back a piece of historical racing... think of all the pacer bikes, motorcycles, and sprint cars...
