The ultimate in traditional construction... Riveting! Everything from Boats to airplanes, riveted construction has been around since the begining of panel joining! It sure looks cool too! Nothing says "mechanical" like a row of rivets!









Clecos help keep the panels aligned during construction. There's something about the look of those clecos laid out, as well...

Metal Artist - Michael Ulman

Today I was browsing around the HAMB and came across the topic of "Steampunk". Not a new term by any means. The term has been around since the late 1800's, referring to futuristic steam powered mechanical devices, but people have even gone so far as to make a lifestyle out of it making it. Fad, maybe? Strange. Anyway, while checking out the topic, a metal artist by the name of Michael Ulman came up. Now being that I REALLY like all things mechanical, and when it comes to art if it's mechanical and "Rube Goldberg" like, then I love it even more. Throw in a little hot rod flavor and you've got something even more exciting.

This year I will drive it!

This is the year! I was really hoping to have it on the road last year, but the cracked Hemi block proved to be a huge setback. The car is on-track, a little behind schedule, but so far looks like it will see the road this year.

Right now it's all blown apart to finish up the chassis details and get the running gear in paint, but a rolling chassis should be in order in the near future! Some prep work to do, a few more parts to acquire, and things should be on a roll!

I'll keep you guys posted!

Back from the road trip...

Last post of 2009! Thought I would end it with pics from our road trip that started in Ohio and ended in California. Didn't post them all (600+ pictures!!), just posted some I thought you guys might dig. The trip was 12-states and we even got to drive Route 66 for awhile. The 10-day break from the internet was GREAT!

Happy Holidays! Anyone there?

I'm getting ready to go to the airport and wanted to pass on happy holidays wishes to everyone! I'm doing a 12-state road trip from Ohio back to Cali! I will be away from the Blog until I get back in a little more than a week. Probably won't be too many updates, if any, until 2010.

With that being said... I have a ton of stuff coming up for 2010. The Model A will be on the road and a few other exciting things including a mystery project or two.

What I would really like to know is what you guys like (if anything) about the blog. I get busy so it makes it hard to update on a regular basis, but would love to know if anyone is actually checking it out. If there is something particular you like about the blog, speak up! Post your comments below...
