Off topic Friday - Young C. Park Corsair Model

Been trying to stay on-topic with the blog, but being that I'm a sucker for detail and a sucker for WWII fighter planes (ESPECIALLY the F4U series Corsairs) I HAD to pass this along for those who haven't seen this incredible masterpiece!

The model was built by retired dentist, Young C. Park. 6000+ hours to build I would say the work has paid off! The pictures are from Craftsmanship Museum website and you can find the link here:

Greg Cueva's '53 Pontiac Chieftain

Stumbled on this car a few days ago. Not sure why this is the first time I've seen it, being that he's basically in the neighborhood, but I was floored when I saw the pictures.

The car is owned by Greg Cueva of Venice, California, and is by far one of the nicest looking custom Ponchos I have ever seen! Kustom flare with classic Pontiac styling! It's a 1953 Chieftain 2-door Hardtop. Bagged on all four corners with 4-link out back and a C-notch kit from Gambino Kustoms. Chassis work was executed by "The Shop", in Lomita, California. It is currently running the Pontiac Inline 8, but is undergoing an engine change for a Pontiac 400/TH400 combo, as well as some paint work.

Looking forward to seeing this one in person when it gets out of the paint shop! Well done Greg!

Quinton/Joehnck Coupe - Pics from Paul

Okay! Back to the blog! Was away from life during the holiday, including the computer. While I was gone I got an email from Paul Hoffmann, one of the previous owners of the Quinton/Joehnck Comp. Coupe discussed earlier in my blog (Comp Coupe). Paul sent me some pictures of this black and blue, dynamic duo... Have a look for yourself! (I'm sure a few of you will recognize the black coupe as well! MMMMM... Can we say Lomas Coupe?) Couldn't ask for a more beautiful couple, right there!

'36 Ford Coupe of the Day

I stumbled on this 1936 Ford Coupe on the HAMB today. The car is owned by Al Cook, out of Ontario. He bought the car with a non-matching Ford flatty drivetrain and knew that he wanted to do some serious trips with the car so he updated to a more modern drive-line and suspension as well as redid the interior to his liking. Overall just a really nice looking, clean, and clearly defined car with a great stance, and the best part is... It's getting DRIVEN!

Jim Lytle 32 Coupe - Engine and intake found!

Okay, I've been trying to keep track of what's going on with the search for this car. Here's the previous post I did on the car:

The engine currently in another car and the search for the actual car continues.

Check out the Cragar 8x2! Four individual manifold plenums! Crazy stuff! Also notice the dimples in the valve covers. Those look to be hand made and not from the factory. The factory dimples would have had more of a "tubbed" shape to them like the C300, Industrial, and Marine engines.

AMAZING! I'll keep you guys posted as I learn more.

Quinton/Joehnck Comp Coupe - restored by Rudy Rodriguez

One of my favorite competition coupes, a 1932 Ford 3-window coupe, originally built in 1951 by Bob Joehnck for owner and driver Jack Quinton, who raced the car from 1951 to 1962. It set several records at El Mirage and Bonneville, and could be seen on the drag strip in Ponmona, Santa Ana, and Santa Maria.

The car was recently restored by Rudy Rodriguez or Fullerton Fabrication, it took First Place in Competition Class at the 2007 Grand National Roadster Show. The car is simply beautiful and looks like it's ready to get back to business! Love it!
