Back in the day...

Anyone want to loan me a few mill'??

Although I'm a die hard hot rod guy, there will always be a sweet spot in heart for 50's and 60's race cars. But in my mind, there were two cars that always stood out... The GT40 and the Shelby Daytona Coupe. Not the new reproduction cars... THE REAL ONES! The one that will always rule my world will be the 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe. Maybe it's like anything else in the world, where you want something you can never have (only SIX were ever made!)... but I just got wind I have a chance! The perfectly restored and driven hard #4 is going up for Auction on May 18th. Anyone want to lend me about, say... mmmmm.... $8 MILLION DOLLARS or so? I can't guarantee any kind of payback, but I'll take you for a ride in it. :)

It is being suggested that it will be one of the highest bid cars. The current record being held by the 1961 Ferrari California Spyder that sold for $10,894,900! Good LORD, that's a lot of money! An amazing car though! "If you have the means, I highly recommend you pick one up. It's so choice." -Ferris Bueller

So how about that loan??

Anyway, The Shelby will be up for auction in May, so get your bids in. To read more about the auction and the story about #4, more details can be found at AutoBlog's page ---> HERE

Thanks out to Big Scott and Maurice

This picture was taken by Maurice van den Tillaard (Flyin' Dutchman)while he was here. I got a chance to go for a ride on Big Scott's Triumph (Cycle Zombies). Love that bike! Rad little scoot!

Thanks again guys! What a blast! I really miss owning a Triumph. They really are special bikes!

Buy these 392 Pistons!

These things have got to go! Good deal folks! Here's the skinny:

Alright, so I've got these +.040 over cast 392 pistons. They were in one of my Hemis and were only run for approximately 1-hour total run time at the very most. They are HY DUTY brand. They're basically new pistons, but two of them just have a couple surface blems on the skirt. I suspect from sitting in the bores and will probably just come off with a little scotch brite, but I didn't want to try. Nothing to worry about though.

The wrist pin size is .9840" and they ARE included!

Piston measures approximately 2.070" from the top of the dome to the wrist pin center (sort of hard to measure). The diameter at the skirt measures 4.0385". A VERY reliable source says these pistons match some he has on the shelf that are labeled as 1958 with 10:1 compression.

I measured the finished bore size at approximately 4.040". You would need to give them to your machinist to make sure you get the right size bore, obviously. Rings are included and look to be Moly type.

$200 plus shipping and I'll even pack 'em up real nice in bubble wrap and everything so they get to you safe and sound.

Just put 'em on and go! If you have questions just ask or email me!

Darth Walter has a Hemi - let's get started

Alright, so my buddy Paulie (AKA Dreddybear) down in Tejas, is building this '29 Ford Coupe with a 331 Chrysler Hemi and he's off to a great start. Wanted to share what he's up to. It's a coupe I've been following and one worthy of keeping an eye on. I'll bring you updates as I see them and hopefully I'll get to see it in the flesh next year at the Lone Star Round-up.

All pictures were takin' by Paul and the story can be followed in his words on the HAMB in this thread ---> DARTH WALTER

Little Progress

Here's some update pictures to get the world up to speed... She's rough with plenty to do, but it's certainly taking shape...

Steve Davis and the Gear Grinder Gathering

When Maurice van den Tillaard and Michael van der Lee came to visit (Flyin' Dutchman and General Wheels), we went to this year's Gear Grinder meeting so Maurice could touch base with his good friends Bob and Judy. The gathering was at Steve Davis' shop here in Huntington Beach. Some neat stuff going on and a plethora of awesome old metal fab tools! Here's some sites from the shop and a video of an FED sounding off for us. Mmmm... Hemi.
