Save those vintage tools and put them to use! Don't scrap 'em! They are worth saving and at the very least creatively updating for today's use in small shops or at home.
This is an early Enterprise Manufacturing Co. 36" band saw. Incredible restoration job and very inspirational for a saw that I'm picking up this weekend...

I believe it is a counterweight for the upper guide. I'm going to find out pretty quick what it is, because the saw I just bought is missing it.
